Assembly Requirements
Follow these installation requirements when
assembling the unit:
•
You must review and follow the instructions in
this guide.
If you do not assemble and use the
S3.55 according to these guidelines, you could void
the Precor Limited Warranty (page 59).
•
While you may be able to assemble the S3.55
using the illustrations only, important safety
notes and other tips are included in the text.
• Read all the caution notes on each page before
beginning that step.
•
Set up the S3.55 on a solid, flat surface
. A
smooth, flat surface under the unit helps to keep
it level. A level unit has fewer malfunctions.
• CAUTION: It is highly recommended that the
S3.55 be assembled and used on the ground
floor. Make sure that the area where you plan to
assemble and use the S3.55 has the structural
integrity to support the 950-lb (428-kg) unit.
•
Provide ample space around the machine
.
Open space around the machine allows for
easier access.
•
Determine the right and left side of the unit.
Certain steps in the assembly instructions make
reference to the left or right side of the unit. To
remain consistent, place your back to the Main
Frame and determine left and right from that
orientation.
•
Check the end of a fastener before inserting it.
The fasteners for each step are packaged in a
plastic bag. The fasteners that are inserted into a
threaded hole do not use locknuts. These bolts or
screws are distinguished with a blue patch on the
threaded end. Please note the callouts in the
instructions and use the proper fasteners.
•
Insert all bolts in the same direction
. The
equipment will look better when you insert all the
bolts in the same direction unless this guide
specifies otherwise.
•
Leave room for adjustments.
Tighten fasteners
such as bolts, nuts, and screws so the unit is stable,
but leave room for adjustments.
Do not fully
tighten
fasteners until instructed in the assembly steps
to do so.
•
A 6-inch scale is provided at the bottom of every
assembly instruction page.
Use this scale to
identify the correct size for bolts and spacers. The
head of a bolt is not used in measuring the length of
a bolt.
To find out the length of a particular bolt, measure
its shank (the long, narrow part beneath the head).
Refer to the following diagram:

length of a bolt,
measure its shank.
