Special safety instructions
The machine is supplied with no oil in the engine.
Remember to fill with engine oil before use!
Engine uses unleaded fuel. Never use pure leaded
petrol, diesel or other fuels.
Store fuel out of the reach of children and in
a clearly marked, approved container.
Remove any spilt fuel with a dry cloth after
fuelling.
Smoking and use of naked flame during fuelling
is forbidden.
Never fill up with fuel or engine oil when the
engine is running.
Do not overfill fuel or oil, as this can cause a risk
of fire.
Store inflammable materials at a safe distance from
the engine as exhaust gases are very hot.
Never use indoors. Exhaust gases contain carbon
monoxide and hydrocarbons that are highly
dangerous for humans and animals if inhaled.
Never start the machine without the air filter.
Avoid raising idling speed above 3500 RPM, as this
can cause damage to the engine and personal
injury.
Avoid touching the engine during and after use.
It may be very hot.
Keep hands and feet well clear of moving and
rotating parts.
Do not use on steep slopes where the machine may
tip over or run out of control. Ensure vibrations
do not cause landslip, which may represent danger
to others.
Do not run vibrator over electrical cables, telephone
wires or other installations that may be damaged by
vibration.
Always follow the engine maintenance instructions
under Cleaning and Maintenance.
Check switch is in OFF position, spark plug lead
is disconnected, before machine is to be adjusted,
cleaned or maintained.
Always switch engine off when leaving it.
Never stand on machine.
Cold conditions and vibration can cause white
finger (Raynaud’s syndrome). Always keep your
body warm while working and do not use the
compactor for extended periods without a break.
If you experience discomfort, swollen, red fingers
which then turn white and become insensitive,
seek medical assistance. A thick pair of work
gloves can reduce vibrations in your hands. The
compactor is also fitted with heavy-duty shock
absorbers to reduce vibration in the handle.
