2) Circuit Breaker Racking Mechanism
The compartment mounted circuit breaker
racking mechanism enables moving the
circuit breaker to one of two positions in
the compartment of the switchgear:
TEST/DISCONNECTED, and CONNECTED.
a) Test/Disconnected
Position
In the TEST/DISCONNECTED
position,
the primary disconnect devices are
disengaged and the shutters are
closed. The secondary devices may
be connected so the breaker may be
electrically or manually operated.
While in the TEST/DISCONNECTED the
test plug interlock device ensures that
the circuit breaker cannot be moved to
the CONNECTED position or removed
from the compartment while the test
plug jumper in place.
b) Connected Position
In the CONNECTED
position, the
movable primary disconnects and
stationary primary disconnects are
engaged, the shutters are open, and
the compartment mounted secondary
disconnect receptacle
(Figure 3, g) control contacts are
completed (Figure 12).
