3 First Steps
ATTENTION!
Damage to the instrument caused by overvoltage!
» First of all, connect up all components as described in this chapter before
connecting the mains cable and switching on the instrument.
ATTENTION!
Damage to connections caused by bent contact pins!
All cables must be easy to plug in.
» Check the contact pins before plugging in the cables.
» Do not use any force when plugging in the cables.
» Replace defective cables with new cables.
» If necessary, contact your local Polytec representative.
INFORMATION
The system components are matched to each other and must not
interchanged when using several systems. With a wrong combination of the
system components the measurement result could be falsified. The
components of one system can be allocated with the serial numbers on the
name plates of the devices (see S
3.2). The matching name plates are
sticked on the back page of the corresponding users manual.
PC
1. Connect up the keyboard to the
KEYBOARD
circular jack on the back of
the PC.
2. Connect up the mouse to one of the USB connections on the back of the
PC.
3. Connect up the monitor cable to the TFT monitor and to the
MONITOR
jack
on the back of the PC.

4. Plug the video camera cable (Ethernet) into the network connection
VIDEO
at the back of the PC and into the
VIDEO
connector at the back of
the interferometer.

5. To move the reference mirror with the aid of the piezo, plug the control
cable in a USB-jack at the back of the PC and into a USB interface at the
back of the controller.

6. For the mains supply for the interferometer, plug the supply cable (Supply)
into the
SUPPLY SENSOR
circular jack on the back of the controller and
into the
SUPPLY SENSOR
circular connector on the back of the
interferometer.
7. Plug the piezo cable (Piezo) into the
PIEZO SENSOR
Sub-D jack at the
back of the controller and into the
PIEZO SENSOR
Sub-D connector at the
back of the interferometer.
