Chapter 6: Troubleshooting Guide
This section lists common fault symptoms and corresponding troubleshooting procedures.
Fault symptom
Possible reason
Troubleshooting procedure (s)
Instrument doesn’t turn on
Battery is dead, misplaced
or there is no battery at all
Replace, or insert the battery
correctly.
Instrument doesn’t respond to the
button pressings; incorrect
characters are displayed
Microprocessor glitch
Remove the battery and insert it
back in 5 min.
Instrument displays error messages Test failure
Send the instruments to the
manufacturer or authorized
service
center.
Instrument produces neither
audible, nor visual alarms in the
CWA detection mode, if the
simulator is placed near the vapor
inlet.
Gas lines and ionization
chamber are dirty.
Simulator lid is closed.
CWA module is faulty.
Clean gas lines, ionization
chamber and micropump, refer to
section 5.2.
Unscrew the lid.
Send the instruments to the
manufacturer or authorized service
center.
CWA module fails to calibrate
Gas lines and ionization
chamber are dirty.
Clean the gas lines, ionization
chamber and micropump, refer to
section 5.2.
Replace filter elements, refer to
section 5.4.
