Using SpeedRead
The default reading speed for your PlexWriter is 40X. SpeedRead boosts this reading
speed to 52X. SpeedRead gives you control of the maximum read speed while
maintaining data integrity and safe operation.
SpeedRead may be supported by the recording software you’re using. You can also
activate SpeedRead manually with the PlexWriter’s eject button.
What SpeedRead Does
SpeedRead changes the default read speed from 40X to 52X (via hardware or
software) for CD-RW and CD data and audio discs.
CAUTION
: Reading a poorly balanced or cracked data disc at 52X speed greatly
increases the likelihood of disc failure and damage to your drive, and people or items
located in front of the drive door. The Plextor warranty does not cover drive damage
resulting from shattered discs. Please examine your discs before use and verify there
are no visible cracks in the hub area. If the disc makes an abnormal or loud noise
during spinup, it may be an indication of a poorly balanced or eccentric disc. In this
case
eject the disc immediately
.
The PlexWriter’s reinforced tray bezel and drive bezel can resist the escape of the
disc or disc fragments in the event of disc failure at this high 52X speed.
