3 PRE-INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
6 Planmeca ProOne
Installation Manual
3.4 Wall strength
The X-ray unit must be attached to the wall prior use. Make sure that the wall will support
the X-ray unit. The wall bracket installation must be able to resist a pull-out force of 2759 N
(276 kg, 608 lb).
3.5 Electrical requirements
3.5.1 Mains voltage and frequency
Make sure that the power requirements of the X-ray unit are the same as the power that is
to be used. The X-ray unit is designed to operate using 100-240V~ universal power
supply. The power requirements are printed on the label located on the back of the moving
column. If the voltage is likely to fluctuate below 90V or over 264V you will need to install a
UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for the X-ray unit and PC to ensure correct operation.
The mains frequency can be either 50 or 60 Hz.
CAUTION
Never connect the X-ray unit to the mains without first checking the voltage setting.
Incorrect voltage setting can cause damage to the unit electronics.
3.5.2 External mains switch (for permanently installed X-ray units only)
The mains voltage supply for the X-ray unit shall be equipped with a permanently installed
mains switch according to the standard IEC 61058-1 (2000 + A1:2001 + A2:2007). The
external mains switch must comply with the isolation distance requirements for 4 kV. The
switch shall disconnect the mains power supply from both the live and neutral lines. It must
be possible to lock the switch in the off position.
3.5.3 Grounding (for permanently installed X-ray units only)
In order to fulfill the safety directives, the X-ray unit must be connected to ground in the
junction box.
3.6 Digital system requirements
The digital system consists of a Planmeca ProOne X-ray unit, Ethernet card, one or more
PCs and an imaging software (Romexis) package.
The PC(s) connected to the system must be:
•
approved by local authorities: e.g. IEC approved (CE marked), UL / CSA approved
•
located outside the patient area (more than 2m (79 in.) from the X-ray unit)
•
protectively grounded
