• VPS/PDC may not wo r k with all

mo r ning a r e used by the GUIDE Plus+
system to download pr og r amme
info r mation. Du r ing these times, VPS/
PDC may not wo r k r eliably; leave VPS/
PDC off if you set a time r r eco r ding fo r
these times.
• Time r r eco r dings with VPS/PDC set to
On a r e not p e r fo r med fo r the p e r iod
between 20 minutes befo r e the sta r t time
of time r r eco r dings fo r which EPG Link is
set to On until the such r eco r dings a r e
com p leted ( p age 56).
• If VPS/PDC is active fo r two time r
pr og r ammes that a r e pr og r ammed to
sta r t at the same time, then the
pr og r amme that actually sta r ts fi r st
takes pr io r ity.
Extending a timer recording in
progress
You can extend a time r r eco r ding beyond the
pr og r ammed end time. This can be useful if
a b r oadcast pr og r amme ove rr uns, fo r
exam p le.
Cancelling or extending the timer
1 Press and hold for three seconds
during a timer recording.
Reco r ding continues, but the time r indicato r
disa pp ea r s f r om the f r ont p anel dis p lay
indicating that the time r has been cancelled.
2 Press repeatedly to extend
recording in 30 minute blocks.
Stopping a timer recording
1 Press during a timer recording.
2 Select ‘Yes’ to confirm.
Preventing use of the recorder
before a timer recording (child
lock)
You can make all the f r ont p anel and r emote
cont r ol buttons ino p e r ative using the child
lock featu r e. This is useful when you set a
time r r eco r ding and want to make su r e that
the time r settings a r e not changed befo r e
r eco r ding has finished.
1 If the recorder is on, switch it
into standby.
2 [Front panel] Press and hold for
three seconds to lock the controls.
The f r ont p anel dis p lay b r iefly shows
LOCKED
. If any buttons a r e pr essed on the
r emote o r f r ont p anel,
LOCKED
is b r iefly
dis p layed again.
• To unlock the r eco r de r , pr ess and hold

(Sto p ) on the f r ont p anel (while the
r eco r de r is sto pp ed) fo r th r ee seconds
until the dis p lay shows
UNLOCKED
.
• Even if you make child lock settings, this
unit can still be cont r olled by the r emote
of a connected Flat Sc r een TV. If you do
not want this unit to be able to be
cont
r olled by anothe r com p onent when
you have set a child lock, tu r n this unit’s
HDMI Control to Off ( p age 147).
Timer recording FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
• Even though the timer is set, the recorder
doesn’t start recording!
Check that the disc loaded o r HDD is
r eco r dable, not locked (see
Lock Disc
on
p age 130), and that the r e a r e fewe r than
99/999 titles al r eady on the DVD/HDD.
• The recorder won’t let me enter a timer
programme! Why not?
You can’t ente r a time r pr og r amme if the
clock isn’t set.
