7.1.10 FAILURE JUDGMENT OF THE HDMI TRANSMITTER IC
Is the analog video signal output?
Yes

Does the monitor support HDCP?
Purpose:
To check if there is any problem with the HDMI output line
(including the connectors.)
Failure judgment of the T-REX (IC1001: DVDM Assy)
Probe R1013-R1018 (22 ohms
×
4, 6 sets) with an oscilloscope
to check if the amplitude of the waveform of each signal during
VCD playback changes between H (3.3 V) and L. Also probe
R1009 (27-MHz clock) to check if the 27-MHz clock signal is
properly output.
NG
Failure in the T-REX or the line between the T-REX and IC1001
(Failure in the resistors mentioned above, defective soldering,
short-circuited signal, broken cable, etc. Replace the T-REX.)
Replace the DVDM Assy.
Check if there is any problem with the initialization processes,
including HDCP initialization. (Connect a Pioneer plasma
display that is equipped with the HDMI input for checking.
The HDMI-DVI conversion cable is required for the connection.)

A failure in IC901 (DVDM Assy) or its peripheral circuits
is suspected.

The monitor owned by the user may not be
compatible with the unit. Check the maker of the
monitor, model name, and detailed information on
the failure, and check past similar cases or consult
the Design Department. In some cases, upgrading
of software and/or the firmware of the DVD player
and the monitor may solve the problem.
