5 Functionality
The image in Fig. 5.8 on the right-hand side shows the result of decimation 3 of the image on
the left-hand side.

An example of a high-speed measurement of the elongation of an injection needle is given in
Fig. 5.9. In this application the height information is less important than the width
information. Applying decimation 2 on the original image on the left-hand side doubles the
resulting frame rate.
