3.3 Storage
Storing a new pump
Pfeiffer Vacuum recommends storing the products in their original transport pack-
aging.
1. Keep the pump wrapped in its protective envelope.
2. Always leave the inlet, the exhaust blanking plates in place.
3. Store the pump in line with the permitted storage temperatures for a maximum period of
1 year
.
Storing a new pump for longer than 1 year
Run the pump regularly
at least once a year
: factors such as temperature, degree of humidity, salt air,
etc. may cause the deterioration of the pump components.
1. Let the pump run:
● for 30 minutes with gas ballast opened or while injecting a dry neutral gas into the pump (G
version).
● then for 30 minutes at ultimate pressure (inlet, gas ballast and purge ports closed).
2. Stop the pump.
3. Seal the pump inlet, exhaust and purge ports with included accessories.
4. Repeat this
at least once a year

Beyond 4 years, the pump must be reviewed at our service centers before commissioning

Storage after use

2. Disconnect the pump from the installation.
3. Seal the pump inlet, exhaust and purge ports with included accessories.
4. Store the pump in a clean, dry, non-polluted area for a maximum of
6 months
according to the
storage temperatures.
Extended storage beyond 6 months after use
