OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Pre-Start Preparation
Before actuating APU, it is necessary to perform the following:
-
Check the oil level in the tank
-
Check the seal of the air line between APU and both turbines for starting of the main engines
-
Switch on all APU circuit breakers and fuel delivery pump
-
Other works related to the pre-flight preparation APU are described in Article No. 4.5
Note: In case of the main engines starting, is necessary provide works performance on the main engines which
must be performed according to the applicable instructions for "Operation and attendance manual" main
engines.
APU Actuation
After switching on of the power supply circuit by switching on the relevant breakers and main switch to position
"RUN" and pushing "START BUTTON" APU accelerates during 23-35 seconds on the operating speed (100%).
Engine Actuation
The starting cycle of the both main engines can be initiate individually after the reaching APU operating rotation
speed (100 %) by opening of the air valve the starter turbine.
In case of failure to start main engine can be repeated start immediately without APU switch off (according to the
instructions for operating mode of the main engine).
APU Cold Turn
It is performed only during:
-
dewaxing and activation APU
-
preservation before interruption of APU operation exceeding 1 month (see Chapter 5),
The method of performance is the same as in Item 2.2, without ignition device circuit switched on (breaker 5A).
APU will automatically stop in 13 s after the "START BUTTON" has been pushed.
-
Before starting the APU at ambient temperatures below -30 °C
APU Switch off
Standard APU shutdown is possible at any stage of operation by switchover the main switch to position "DELAY /
STOP", when will decrease the rotational speed at idle and two minutes APU waiting at idle in order to cool the
turbine. Then it automatically disconnects of the power supply of the control box, closes the fuel supply valve and
APU will shut down.
Emergency APU shutdown is possible at any stage of operation using switchover the main switch to position
"EMERGENCY STOP" with immediate APU shutdown.
Monitoring and Signaling Equipment
Signal elements on the APU control panel in the cockpit appear on “DIPLAY AND RECORDER” :.
-
signal light of APU operation in the 89 % Mode
-
signal light of APU operation in the 100 % Mode
-
signal light of high exhaust gas temperature 850 °C (1562°F)
-
combined control lamp - clogging of the oil filter
- clogging of the fuel filter
Control box problem protocol LUN 3594.04 can be read by using of PC and Monitoring software.
More detailed description - see Appendix No. 1, Technical and operation manual of control box LUN 3594.04, the
PRP-2011-602-02-001.
does not have a permanent signaling character, signaling is active
in the case of the filters pollution, only during the operation of
APU
