3-4 Operation by External Devices
3-4-1 Operation method using external control device
To control the laser welding machine VL-W1-N series with the external control device, the following connecting methods
are applicable:
External control using I/O : Remote mode operation
Controls the laser welding machine from external devices such as PLC using various I/O signals loaded into the laser
welding machine.
For details, refer to “4 External Control Using I/O” (P.82).

External control by serial communication commands (RS-232C) : Remote mode operation
Use the RS-232C interface for controlling the laser welding machine from an external device such as PLC using
communication commands.

• It is available to the external control combining I/O, and serial communication commands.
• To input lasing trigger with I/O and configure other settings with a screen operation manually, use Run mode. For details,
refer to “3-3-4 Test lasing and Run mode operation” (P.74).
• For the communication details to monitor the laser power at lasing, refer to “6 Laser Power Monitoring Function” (P.126).
