Recording
Applicable modes:
AF assist lamp will illuminate the subject when the shutter button is pressed halfway, making it
easier for the camera to focus when recording in low light conditions. (Larger AF area is
displayed depending on the recording conditions.)
Settings: [ON]/[OFF]
• The effective range of the AF Assist Lamp is 1.5 m (4.9 feet).
• When you do not want to use the AF Assist Lamp
A
(e.g. when taking pictures
of animals in dark places), set the [AF Assist Lamp] to [OFF]. In this case, it will
become more difficult to focus on the subject.
• A vignetting effect may appear on the circumference of the AF Assist Lamp
because the AF Assist Lamp may be obscured by the lens, however, this does
not cause a problem with the performance of the camera.
• [AF Assist Lamp] is fixed to [OFF] in the following cases.
– [Scenery]/[Panning]/[Night Scenery]/[Handheld Night Shot]/[Sunset]/[Glass Through] (Scene
Mode)
• Refer to
for details.
Applicable modes:
2nd curtain synchro activates the flash just before the shutter closes when taking pictures of
moving objects such as cars using a slow shutter speed.
Note
• Set it to [1ST] for normal use.
• [2nd] is displayed in the flash icon on the screen if you set [Flash Synchro] to [2ND].
• When a fast shutter speed is set, the effect of [Flash Synchro] may deteriorate.
