Maintaining pH level:
z
If pH is too high and the water level is at the proper height:
1.
Add a small amount of pHdown to the reservoir
2.
wait ten minutes and measure the pH level again
3.
Repeat until pH is at the proper level
z
If pH is too high and the water level is below MIN:
1.
Refill the reservoir using water treated with pHdown (see
2.
Add a small amount of pHdown to the reservoir
3.
wait ten minutes and measure the pH level again
4.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until pH is at the proper level
z
If pH is at the proper level and the water level is below MIN, refill the reservoir using
water treated with pHdown (see
)
Maintaining eC level:
1.
Verify both water and pH are at the proper levels
2.
Measure the eC level
3.
If eC level is less than 1.5 above baseline*:
i. Add a small amount of fertilizer to the reservoir
ii. wait ten minutes and measure the eC level again
iii. Repeat until eC is at the proper level
7.3 MAINTAINING WATER QUALITY
CAUTION:
Follow manufacturer's
instructions prior to using pHDown, fertilizer,
and the pH and EC meters
TIP:
Clean the water reservoir thoroughly
once every four months
TIP:
Keep the pH and EC meter tips in a cup
of fresh water between uses, or wash well after
every use
*
EC baseline
= water's eC level prior to adding fertilizer
Proper water, pH, and eC levels:
z
water level must be between MIN and MAX
z
pH level must be between 6.5-7
z
eC level must be at 1.5 above baseline*
