DIGITAL VOICE RECORDER, EDIT MESSAGE
The Digital Voice Recorder (DVR) used in the RI-300 provides a high quality solid-state speech record and playback function.
This unit uses a non-volatile EEPROM technology to store the messages. Note that even though the message itself is stored in
the DVR memory, message management information is stored in the RI-300. If you replace or change the DVR, any prior
recorded messages will be lost. After installing the DVR (section 6), use the "33 9 x" S-Command to tell the RI-300 which
model DVR you installed.
The DVR will allow up to 50 messages of variable length totaling the size of the device you installed. You can send
S-Command "33 3 0" to find out how much total DVR time you have used. To record a message, send S-Command "33 1 x" (x
= message number) and un-key. After the prompt, key up and start recording your message. The RI-300 will stop recording
when you finish your transmission. The RI-300 will also edit the end of your message to remove any squelch burst. Next you
can review your message by sending S-Command "33 2 x". If you want to record over an existing message, you do not have to
delete the old message; the controller will do that for you. To include a message in a user command or in an ID message, use
the speech message editor (S-Command 30), selecting Speech Command 901 through 950. Speech Command 901 will play
DVR message #1 and so on.
