Description
As well as the D O S , a n u m b e r of information 'pages' are written onto
both sides of the system disc (by 'page' we m e a n a screenful of
information). The information contained on these pages is mainly in the
f o r m of examples of microdisc instructions, and is intended to
s u p p l e m e n t the information contained in the r e m a i n d e r of C h a p t e r 5
rather than be an alternative User Guide to this manual.
Instruction
The first thing to do is m a k e sure your system disc is in drive 0, this is so
that the help pages can be loaded into the c o m p u t e r when you request
them.
Next, type in ! H E L P RETURN. This will result in a list being displayed
showing you what is available in the help pages, in addition, there are
also instruction telling you what to type in for displaying pages.
You will notice that the list contains the names of information items
(most of which are the c o m m a n d words) to be found in the instructions
e.g. D E L for D E L E T E , and each name has a number. You can use
either the n a m e
o r
the n u m b e r , for selecting the item, for example:
To display information on D E L , you can type in either
! H E L P DEL
or ! H E L P ( n u m b e r )
RETURN
The first page or screenful of information will then a p p e a r on the screen.
If there is m o r e than one page, you simply press SPACE to display
each subsequent page.
T r y typing in both the above instructions and check you get the same
page each time. Y o u will notice that the light on the drive unit front,
comes on each time information is sent from disc to computer.
