PREPARING THE PLATES
A. Calibrating the base plate unit
Calibration is to obtain an optimum result, by adjusting the set of plates which covers sit on for hot
print stamping, making the covers parallel and at the correct height to the matrix/typeface fonts.
1. Lower the base plate (23) by turning all the ad-
justing wheels to the maximum clockwise.
2. Put plate (22), on to base plate (23), then put plate (21).
Note!
Plate (21) has pins, which should be placed into the
holes on middle plate (22) and to base plate (23).
3. Now put the calibration plate (20) on the top, bent
tabs should be pointing down and towards you.
4. Put the handle down.
5. Keeping the handle down, turn the adjusting
wheels on base plate (23) to the maximum, anti-
clockwise to get the correct distance between the
typeface, or the matrix/logo.
Note! Repeat steps 4, 5, for several times to en-
sure a even hot print stamping and embossing.
6. Lift the handle to the open position.
7. Remove the calibration plate (20).
Note!
The process of calibrating should assure the high-
est quality of hot print stamping. However, it may
be necessary to increase/higher the pressure if the cover (e.g. lack of tinsel/colour within the print/
embossed area) or decrease/lower the pressure (e.g. blurred/not sharp letters) In such case: turn
the wheels on the basic plate (23) anti-clockwise to increase/higher the pressure or turn the wheels
clockwise to decrease/lower the pressure. If the inscription/matrix is not even across the whole sur-
face, (e.g. left side is correct, and the right side is blurred/not sharp) , turn the wheels clockwise on
the right side clockwise to decrease/lower the pressure.
Calibration does not have to be done every time when changing the typeface fonts or type of cover.
It should be repeated only after the hot stamping result is not satisfactory.
B. ARRANGING THE PLATES DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF COVER
O.Metalbind covers and spine channel are separate:
1. On the base plate (23), put the plate (22) and then plate (21).
2. Put the cover to be hot print stamped on plate (21).
C-bind covers are covers and channel all in one:
1. On base plate (23) put plate (21).
2. Put the C-Bind cover with its channel facing up on plate (21).
3. Place the cover under the text or matrix/logo where
you want to hot stamp, putting the insert CB plate (24)
between the covers directly under the print area.
4. Put the cover on the plates.

You can immobilize / lock the regulating plates (21-22) together in a stable
position by screwing two bolts, type (DIN 912 M4-20mm) (dig.14) into the
fixed base plate (23), when doing small and delicate printing jobs.
