Measure/Align Dialog Box
Horizontal Alignment with Measure/Align
Measure/Align in the windows software will help you with horizontal alignment on cylindrical surfaces.
Remember SUM is a sum of all of the voltages from the detectors. When horizontally aligned, you will obtain the
largest possible value on Bar Graph and indicated percentage because more light is reflecting into the center of
the detector window and detectors. Move the head back and forth
COMPLETELY
over a cylindrical surface. This
allows software to “learn” the optimal position. You will see this value go up and down. Position Lasercheck for
maximum signal after at least one complete pass over the cylindrical surface. The continually updating bar graph
helps with horizontal alignment.
Once it is found, then the head must be positioned to achieve a value as close to that maximum as possible.
NOTE:
Do not assume that a 100% reading in the Measure/Align dialog box is correct.
You must be sure to pass
the head back and forth over the surface one or two times so that the maximum possible value can be learned
.
