Small Surfaces
Surfaces that are smaller than the actual footprint of the laser spot (approximately 5 to 6 mm long X 1 mm wide)
can be measured. The part of the laser beam that “overfills” the surface can be allowed to pass by. It is
important to ensure that part of the beam is not allowed to strike a “secondary” surface and reflect back into
the sensors. This would affect the reading and the results of the “primary” small surface measurement. Fixturing
must be designed to accommodate this requirement.
