Optibike advises that the
following steps be taken to
prepare for and help prevent
possible theft:
1. Maintain a record of the
bicycle’s
serial
number,
located on the frame just
above the bottom bracket.
2. Register the bicycle with
the local police department.
3. Invest in a high quality
bicycle lock that will resist
hack-saws and bolt cutters.
Always lock your bicycle to an
immovable object if it is left
unattended.
4. Buy insurance for your bike.
This can often be obtained for
little
cost
through
an
insurance agent and should
also provide coverage in case
of a crash or fall.
