Configuration
To turn off Windows security functionality
1.
From the Start menu, select
Settings > Control Panel
.
2.
In Control Panel, double-click
Security Center
.
3.
Turn off the
Firewall
,
Automatic Updates
, and
Virus Protection
(figure 5.2).
4.
Disable ALL firewall, virus scanner and automatic update facilities.
5.
To configure Alert Settings, click
Change the way Security Center alerts me
.
6.
In Alert Settings, uncheck the boxes labelled
Firewall
,
Automatic Updates
, and
Virus rotection
.
To disable Error Reporting, Remote Desktop, and System Restore
1.
Right-click My Computer, and then select
Properties
from the context menu.
2.
On the Advanced tab, click
Error reporting
, and select
Disable error reporting
.
3.
Uncheck the box labelled
But notify me when critical errors occur
.
4.
On the Remote tab, uncheck the box labelled
Allow users to connect remotely to this
computer
.
5.
On the System Restore tab, check the box labelled
Turn off System Restore on all drives
,
and click
OK
.
