Foosball
Foosball is played by two teams, each with one or two players.
Object of the Game – To be the first team (or player) to score a predetermined number of
goals, or to score the most goals in a given period of time.
Gameplay – The server rolls the ball through the serving hole to start the game. A goal is
scored when a ball enters the opposing team’s goal. If the ball enters a goal but bounces
back onto the playing surface or leaves the table, it still counts as a goal. Spinning the
rods is not allowed. If the ball leaves the playing surface and strikes any object that is not
part of the table, it is declared "out of play." It should be put back into play by the team
that originally served that ball. If the ball rolls back into the serving cup and then returns
to the playing surface, it is still considered "in play."
BILLIARDS
Billiards refers to a number of games played on a rectangular, felt-covered table. Pool is
the most popular billiards game in the United States. Billiards may be played by two single
players or by teams of two players each. Players attempt to drive object balls into the
pockets by striking them with the white cue ball.
8-Ball
The most popular billiard game is "8-Ball." The object of this game is for one player (or
team) to pocket either the balls numbered 1 to 7 (solids) or 9 to 15 (stripes).
The balls are first racked in a triangle. The 1-ball at the front of the rack is placed on the
foot spot, and the 8-ball placed in the center of the rack. The starting player puts the cue
ball behind a line called the "head string," and then drives the cue ball into the object balls
with the cue. The cue ball must strike either the head ball or the second ball in the rack.
The player to pocket the first ball chooses either stripes or solids. The game is won by the
player who pockets all of his object balls and then pockets the 8-ball in the pocket he has
"called." Note: if a player pockets the 8-ball on the break, he wins the game automatically.
SHUFFLEBOARD
Object of the Game – To slide the weights (discs) into the scoring zone at the opposite end
of the board. Players (or team members) play at opposite ends of the board. A game is
played until one player (or team) scores 15 points.
Gameplay – Order of play and weight colour are determined by flipping a coin. The winner
of the flip may choose either the colour or the "hammer"—the last weight shot in a round—
but not both. The team without the hammer shoots first. Players alternate shooting until
all weights have been shot. Points are totalled, and play continues from the opposite end.
The team that scored points on the previous round shoots first on the next round. If no
points are scored in the preceding round, the hammer changes teams (i.e., the team that
had the hammer during the round where no points were scored must shoot first in the
next round). Play continues until one team reaches 15 points.
