2) Selecting Auto Line Feed
Depending on you r computer, it may or may not send a line feed (LF) when
it sends a carriage return (CR) . Hold down the Half Space Key and press
the # 5 Key to select CR= CR only (This is the default setting, selected
whenever a previous setting is not backed-up by the memory ) A beep will
sound, indicating that this feature has been activated .
Hold down the Half Space Key and press the # 4 Key to select CR

LF (The CR code automatically performs a line feed.)

Note
If you select the CR = CR + LF mode for a comptuer which sends a line feed
(LF) with a carriage return (CR), the typewriter will double the line feed
Conversely, if you select the CR = CR Only mode for a computer which does
not send a l i ne feed with a carriage return , the typewriter wi ll not perform
a l ine feed when the computer sends a carriage return, and l ines will print
on top of each other. Refer to the operation manual for your computer.
You r typewriter has a memory back-up circuit which maintains the
carriage return status (CR Only for CR
+
LF) for 30 days.
3) Typewriter/Printer Modes, Resetting
I n the printer mode, the only i nput f rom the keyboard that is accepted 1s
the Half Space + # 4 Key or Half Space + # 5 Key to set the carriage return
mode, or a change in the Impression Cont rol Switch setting to alter the
printing impact
Margins and tabs set in the typewriter mode are valid in the printer mode,
but can be changed with the respective Escape sequence When the On
line Key is pressed a second time, the typewriter goes off-line
(typewriter mode) , with the margins/tabs set during the on-line mode
remaining valid, but the settings on the keyboard for line spacing and
horizontal spacing (typing pitch) are used
