3.1 Ribbon Cassette
1. Removing Ribbon Cassette
1) Turn off the machine.
2) Open the Top Cover of the typewriter.
3) Push the Cassette Release Lever toward the
rear of the machine (Figure 3.1-a)
4) Place your fingers on the Cassette as shown in
Figure 3.1-b and remove the Cassette by
pulling it straight up.
Note
Remove the Cassette slowly and carefully to
avoid ribbon damage.
2. Installing Ribbon Cassette
1) Before installing the Cassette, always tighten
the ribbon by rotating the Cassette Wind Knob
counterclockwise. For a new Cassette, wind
completely past the colored portion at the
beginning (Figure 3.1-c).
2) Position the ribbon behind the Ribbon Guides,
pull the Cassette toward you slightly and push
it down on the stand until it drops into place
(Figure 3.1-d).
3) Pull the Cassette Release Lever toward you
(Figure 3.1-e).
4) Turn the Cassette Wind Knob to take up any
slack.
5) Close the Top Cover.
Note:
Before typing, verify the amount of remaining
ribbon through the cassette window. Replace
the Ribbon Cassette if colored tape appears
in
the window.
