TYPES OF FILAMENT BOBBINS
The filament can be composed of the different materials introduced below:
PLA
Polylactic acid, is a Bio polymer of vegetable origin, which is completely recyclable, very versatile and with
good mechanical and elastic properties.
Its shiny finish makes it ideal for producing decorative articles that are pleasant to the touch, and with excellent
resistance to ultraviolet light (not subject therefore to variations in colour). Simple to print, it can also be
sanded without difficulty.
This very versatile material can be used in many fields of application, its shiny surface making it ideal when
dimensions and aesthetics count.
C
SBC (Styrene Butadiene Copolymer) is a material with similar mechanical properties to those of ABS. It is
transparent and, being more elastic than ABS, is excellent to work during printing. It has good mechanical
strength (although less than ABS) and is not hygroscopic. SBC is used in the biomedical field being non-
invasive. Like ABS, SBC is subject to withdrawal and, for this reason, it must be printed on a hot plate. Its use
is not advised for realise large-sized objects. In the 3D printing sector, SBC is often used as a support material
for creating more complex printing works. SBC dissolves when immersed in limonene.
PLA LAYER
LOADED Polylactic Acid is a Bio polymer of vegetable origin, very versatile and with good mechanical and
elastic properties.
It has a shiny finish and properties that make the superimposition of layers almost unperceivable, making it
therefore ideal for producing decorative articles that are pleasant to the touch. It offers excellent resistance to
UV radiation and is therefore not subject to changes in colour. Simple to print, it can also be sanded and,
unlike standard PLA, has excellent heat resistance and superior mechanical resistance.
MONUMENTAL
Monumental is a filament containing mineral microdust that creates an Italian marble-type effect and has been
developed especially for use in the architecture, design and archaeology sectors. A material having great
aesthetic and tactile qualities it can be used for the production of static models with great scenic impact.
Excellent to work after printing.
An ideal material to use in architectural and civil engineering projects.
CARBONIUM
Carbonium is a of polyamide filament charged with carbon microdust.
Articles made of carbon - apart from physically resembling those in fibre, offers greater resistance to loads.
Their other properties are tenacity, resistance to mechanical and elastic fatigue.
Ideal for anyone who needs to produce articles having mechanical resistance, and with possibility of fast
simple workings post-printing. An ideal material for the automotive sector, and producing accessories for
applications where lightness combined with strength is required.
ULTRAFLEX
Superior quality, TPE-based, elastomer, with optimal shape memory, returning rapidly to its original shape
after bending, compressing or twisting. Operating range from
–50° to +120°. Used in many industrial fields due
to its superior properties: fatigue and oil-corrosion resistance, resilience and elastic response. An ideal material
for use in the sports shoe and automotive sectors, and for high strength cases, industrial bumpers and sectors
where elastic components are used for energy absorption.
