Swimming pool pump
GB
Set the pump as close as possible to the pool, preferably in a dry, well-ventilated area
and protected from direct sunlight. It should stand on a solid and level surface. Please give
due consideration to the following:
1. Condensate liquid must be able to drain away from the pump.
2. Ventilation of the pump motor must be unobstructed.
3. The pump must be accessible for maintenance work and preparations for winterisation.
4. The pump must be protected from weather conditions.
The pump is self-priming, but should be installed as close as possible to the water level or
below it to ease priming.
For pump connection rigid or flexible PVC pipes or tubes can be used.
Installation with adhesive connection
Pipe ends have to be clean and free of burrs. Please make ensure that the proper adhesive is
used on the corresponding pipe type. The adhesive must be suitable for the weather condi-
tions at the place of installation.
Installation with threaded connection
Please use only Teflon tape as sealing for plastic thread connections. Do not overtighten the
connection. As a rule of thumb: hand-tighten plus ½ turn is sufficient.
Pump pipe laying
The diameter of the suction pipe should be as large as or larger than the discharge pipe. Do
not use a suction pipe that is smaller in diameter than the pump connection.
Keep the piping as straight and as short as possible. Avoid to connect pipe bends directly
at the pump inlet. Lay horizontal runs to slightly slope upwards to the pump to prevent air
pockets at the highest point. Make sure that the weight of the piping does not place any
strain on the pump. Keep as much of the suction line as possible below the water level to re-
duce the priming time. Install valves and unions into the suction and return line to facilitate
servicing and to disassembly the pump easily if required.
