13.2 Prescan
Approximately 50% of failures reported by the duplicator are caused by er-
rors in the master disc that the Reader couldn't overcome. When this kind of
failure occurs, it tends to waste all of your blank recordable media.
The “Prescan” feature is used to detect flaws in the master disc prior to per-
forming the duplicating process. This feature scans and detects any bad sec-
tors in the master disc. You should perform this test before starting the
duplication task for all master discs. By doing so you can prevent wasting the
blank media if there is an error in the master disc.

A blank 8x DVD+R media was placed in
the third tray.

The “3.” indicates that the informa-
tion is for the media inserted in tray 3.
■
The “DVD+R” indicates that the me-
dia inserted is a +R type of DVD.
■
The “4482M” indicates that 4482
MBytes of space is available on the
disc.
■
“Blank” indicates that the disc is
blank.
■
8X indicates the maximum write
speed.
■
SONY indicates the manufacturer
■
D11 is the manufacture ID
