Diffuse Reflection Measurements
1.
Initialize:
•
Start the NanoQuest software.
•
Connect the spectrometer module to the PC using the USB cable that
came with the NanoQuest and wait for the module to initialize (i.e., the
color of the status bar goes from yellow to green).
•
The software automatically detects the NanoQuest
’s Spectrometer
ID
in use and sets the appropriate interfacing parameters.
2.
Optimize the optical power coupling:
•
Go to the Interferogram tab in the NanoQuest software.
•
Adjust the acquisition parameters as described below:
o
Scan time: 100 ms (Short scan time is selected for high
repetition rates of the measurements. The intent is not to have
a high SNR in this step.)
o
Resolution: Select either 8 or 16 nm optical resolution (FWHM).
o
Optical gain settings: Select Reflection or a user created
custom gain setting.
o
Run Mode: Continuous
•
Place the probe in the probe holder.
•
Place the reflection standard at the front face of the probe.
•
Click
Run.
•
Monitor the interferogram and PSD plots during the continuous acquisition:
o
The plots will continue updating. Monitor the peak to peak value of the
interferogram's centerburst while slightly adjusting the distance
between the probe and reflection standard in the probe holder.
