8. SETUP FLOW FOR FAX FEATURES
Setup Flow for Network-Fax
The Network-Fax enable users to output a document to a facsimile or Internet Fax device instead of print-
ing a document using a printer.
Users can send a document in a computer to a facsimile or Internet Fax device using a N/W-Fax driver via
the equipment.
•
The fax transmission using a N/W-Fax driver is available only when the Printer Kit and optional Fax
unit are installed, or when the Printer/Scanner Kit and optional Fax unit are installed.
•
The internet fax transmission using a N/W-Fax driver is available only when the Printer Kit and Scan-
ner Kit are installed, or when the Printer/Scanner Kit is installed.
Using the N/W-Fax driver, users can send a document to this equipment as a print job. The receiving fax
numbers (or E-mail addresses) are specified by the user and the equipment then sends the job through
the Public Switched Telephone Network or the Internet.
To send a fax through the Public Switched Telephone Network, users must configure the equipment
accordingly.
When sending an internet fax, the equipment sends the document to the SMTP server and transfers it to
the Internet. (A DNS server is required for the SMTP server to transmit the document into the Internet.)
