5. Malfunctions: Causes and Remedies
Fault Possible Causes Remedy
Appliance
remains silent •The same channel has not been
selected for the transmitter and
receiver.
•Check the channel number display 3 . Both
appliances must show the same channel.
•Batteries are used up or not connected
properly. Batteries almost run down.
•Replace batteries or use mains adaptor.
•Mains adaptor 5 not properly con-
nected.
•Check connection of mains adaptor 5 .
•Range of appliance has been
exceeded.
•To improve transmission quality, check
position of receiver and aerial.
•Move receiver closer to transmitter.
•Increase volume.
Control lamp 1
does not light up
•Batteries used up / Batteries almost
run down.
•Replace batteries or use mains adaptor.
•Mains adaptor 5 not properly con-
nected.
•Check connection of mains adaptor 5 .
Poor reception
quality •Range of appliance has been exceeded •Move receiver closer to transmitter.
•Transmitter or receiver are too close to
metal items.
•Move appliance to a different place and
check sound transmission.

•Replace batteries or use mains adaptor.
Interference •Someone is operating equipment in
your vicinity using the same frequency
as your NUK Babyphone.
•Change the channel of the transmitter and
receiver. Ensure that transmitter and
receiver are set to the same channel.
•Remove the receiver from the source of
interference.
Interference
noises •Interference possibly from electrical
equipment, e.g. mixer, dimmer
switches etc.
•Remove possible causes of interference.
•Range of appliance has been
exceeded.
•Move receiver closer to transmitter.
•Set up appliance in another position and
check sound transfer.
Range is too
small •Batteries used up / Batteries almost
run down.
•Replace batteries or use mains adaptor.
•Transmitter or receiver in the vicinity
of metal items.
•Move the appliance to another place and
check volume control 17 for correct setting.
•Aerial covered by an obstruction. •Change channel setting on transmitter and
receiver to improve quality of reception.
•Set up receiver and transmission appliance
vertically.
Whistling (acous-
tic feedback) •Receiver is too close to the transmitter. •Increase distance between receiver and
transmitter.
•Volume too high. •Reduce volume.
