Replacing the Backup Battery

Remove the four #4 Phillips Flat head screws that secure the Battery Access
Plate. Refer to the illustration on the following page.

Lift the Battery Access Plate from the controller cage assembly about 1 inch.
Reach in and disconnect the power cable connecting the BBU to the
controller circuit board.

Remove the battery from the Battery Access Plate by removing the two #4
Phillips screws. Note the orientation.

Remove your new replacement battery from is shipping package and inspect
for obvious damage.

Attach the new battery to the Battery Access Plate. Using the two #4 Phillips
screws previously removed, secure the battery. Refer to the illustration on the
previous page.

Connect the BBU power cable to the controller circuit board at J8. The
connector is keyed and will only install one way.

Secure the Battery Access Plate to the controller cage using the four #4
Phillips Flat head screws previously removed.

Reinsert the RAID Controller into the enclosure and secure it with the latches.

Power on the storage system. During the power up self test the battery status
will be updated. Refer to “Powering On the Storage System” on page 41.

Using the packaging materials from the replacement backup battery unit,
repackage and return it per your RMA instructions, if applicable.
