Setup

Placement

The NOVA Systems Micro-Plex design concept provides power to the NOVA Systems Controllers via
the system's Dimmer Packs, eliminating the need for AC power cords. This makes remote placement of
your MIDI 616 easy and flexible without worry of locating near power outlets.

When operating from a location remote from the stage, the best results are achieved through good
visibility from the audiences point of view. Most operators will position themselves near the remote
sound board, or in a similar location back in the audience to view the visual presentation of the
performance.

System Hookup

Once the best location for the MIDI 616 has been determined, you can begin connecting it to the rest of
your system. Through the NOVA Systems Micro-Plex design, you need only connect a single 3-
conductor audio cable (standard microphone cable with XLRs) to one of the Micro-Plex output ports on
the back panel of the MIDI 616. This single cable will carry all of the necessary control signals to your
Dimmer Packs at the stage. You can also send these signals through one channel of most audio snakes
without audible interference from your lighting system. After completing the connection to the first
NOVA Systems Dimmer Pack on stage, additional Dimmer Packs can be programmed and “daisy
chained” together (see owners manual included with Dimmer Packs).
