
Users of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and higher can use a YaST module called
WOL to easily configure Wake on LAN. Users of other versions of SUSE Linux-based
operating systems can use a command line tool.

Log in as

Start YaST > Network Services > WOL.

Click Add and enter the hostname and MAC address of the target system.

To turn on this machine, select the appropriate entry and click Wake up.

netdiag

Open a terminal and enter the following command as

to wake the target:
ether-wake mac_of_target
Replace
mac_of_target
with the actual MAC address of the target.
4.4 Booting the Target System for
Installation
Basically, there are two different ways to customize the boot process for installation
apart from those mentioned under
Section 4.3.7, “Wake on LAN”
(page 71) and
Sec-
tion 4.3.3, “Using PXE Boot”
(page 66). You can either use the default boot options
and function keys or use the boot options prompt of the installation boot screen to pass
any boot options that the installation kernel might need on this particular hardware.
