14 Use and maintenance
The correct operation and useful life of the door basically depends on having it
installed by qualified personnel. It should also be regularly checked and maintained
by a qualified specialist.
On these lines, the EN 12635:2002 standard establishes that the correct functioning
of the door can only be guaranteed through correct installation and maintenance
by a qualified specialist company / person, complying with the installation and
maintenance instructions provided by the manufacturer.
15. By the owner
The owner shall be responsible for the safe door operation. To achieve this, and in
accordance with the provisions of standard EN 12635:2002, the owner must ensure
that qualified personnel carry out the door inspection and maintenance procedures
and, basically, all those operations which entail a certain risk.
The owner must inform the maintenance company of any event which could represent
a potential hazard, so that the maintenance company can correct this as soon as
possible.
16. By the maintenance personnel
The maintenance company shall be obliged to carry out the inspections and maintenance
operations according to the established frequency, which will basically depend on
the amount and type of use, although always within a maximum period of one year.

The following points should be
observed, to prevent bodily injury
or damage to the door.
-Maintenance of the door and opening
system must be made at least every
12 months. The maintenance
intervals should be shorter if the
door is used very frequently.
-All faulty components should be
replaced with original spares.
-Maintenance work must be performed
by qualified personnel.
-These instructions should be taken
into account when performing
maintenance operations.
-Warning and safety instructions must
specifically be adhered to.
-The door maintenance must be
documented.
