Standard Unloader Operation
NOTE:
The following procedures only apply to standard unloaders. Refer
to the
CE Unloader Operation
section for CE unloaders.
Read and understand this section before performing any operation
procedures. Contact a local Nordson representative with questions
regarding the operation of this equipment.
WARNING:
Allow only qualified personnel to perform the following tasks.
Follow the safety instructions in this document and all other related
documentation.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the follower plate and seals, never use a
damaged material container.
WARNING:
When operating the elevator controls, it is important to
remember that
Neutral
is not a locked and secured position. The follower
plate may drift downward over time.
First-Time Startup
NOTE:
This procedure applies only to starting up a new system for the
first time.
1. Make sure that the solvent chamber (11) is properly filled with solvent
chamber fluid.
2. Place the elevator control valve (4) in the
Neutral
position.
3. Set the air motor regulator (2) to 0 psi/bar.
4. Set the elevator regulator (3) to 30 psi (2 bar).
5. Close the air motor ball valve (1).
6. Make sure that the air hoses and material delivery hose are not kinked
or pinched.
7. Place the elevator control valve (4) in the
Ram Up
position to raise the
follower plate (5).
8. Inspect the material container for dents or other damage. Do not use a
damaged container.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the follower plate seals, do not use
petroleum-based products. Use O-ring grease.
9. Coat the follower plate seals (7) with O-ring grease.
10. Place the container of material between the drum centering shoes (9)
and center it under the follower plate (5).
11. Remove the bleeder stem (8) from the bleeder stem/blow-off port (6) to
relieve any air trapped under the follower plate (5).
