Exposure Compensation
To obtain the desired results with certain subject compositions, it may be nec-
essary to use exposure compensation to alter exposure from the value sug-
gested by the camera. As a rule of thumb, positive compensation may be
needed when the main subject is darker than the background, negative val-
ues when the main subject is brighter than the background.
1
Pressing the
button, rotate the main com-
mand dial and confirm exposure compensation
in the control panel or viewfinder. Exposure
compensation can be set to values between –
5 EV (underexposure) and +5 EV (overexposure)
in increments of
1
/
3
EV.
At values other than
±
0, a
icon will be dis-
played in the control panel and viewfinder af-
ter you release the
button, and the “0” at
the center of the electronic analog exposure
display will blink. The current value for expo-
sure compensation can be confirmed in the
electronic analog exposure display or by press-
ing the
button.

Normal exposure can be restored by setting exposure compensation to

when the camera is turned off.
