Startup error messages
*Fan stopped; Replace
it!
A fan in the appliance stopped and
should be replaced as soon as
possible. The system console
displays information about which
fan stopped.
Replace the identified fan, as
described in “
Replacing the fans
”
on page 80.
*Power supply
degraded!
A power supply in the appliance is
faulty and will fail soon or is
unplugged. The system console
displays information about the
specific power supply or what
caused it to become degraded.
Replace the power supply or power
supply cord, as described in
“
Replacing the power supplies
” on
page 89.
*SHUTDOWN FOR
ENV. ISSUES
An environmental event caused the
system to shut down. Possible events
are as follows:

A power supply fan failed or is
running slowly.
◆
Two of the four fans in the
system either stopped or are
running slowly.
◆
The appliance reached a critical
temperature and is too hot.
◆
A power voltage line is in a
critical state and not functioning
properly.
Do one of the following:

Replace the identified fan, as
described in “
Replacing the
fans
” on page 80.
◆
Replace a power supply or
power cord, as described in
“
Replacing the power supplies
”
on page 89.
◆
Check the heatsink fan—C2100
only.
◆
Check and remove any airflow
obstructions.
100 Timer channel 2
error
An error was detected on timer
channel 2.
Replace the motherboard, as
described in “
Replacing the
motherboard
” on page 102. If the
problem persists, call Network
Appliance Customer Support.
101 Master interrupt
controller
The master interrupt controller
detected an error.
102 Slave interrupt
controller
The slave interrupt controller
detected an error.
103 CMOS battery
failure
The battery used by CMOS is
discharged or failed.
