Chapter 6
3rd-Party Services
The Desktop Applications include the option to install 3rd-Party services for use by all
Desktop Applications users. These 3rd-Party services are required to support some of
the functionality that was available in the IPK II PC Attendant and PC Assistant.
The 3rd-Party services manage shared resources and provide communication
facilities between user endpoints. 3rd-Party services include the following functions:
Shared Directory/Contact List
– provides a shared database that includes the
company directory and external contact list that can be accessed by all users.
Centralized BLF Monitoring
– the 3rd-Party TSP is used to monitor the status
of all stations on the system. Updates are provided by the shared services to the
individual clients.
Common Trunk Labeling
– provides a central storage for assigning labels to
trunks.
Quick Messaging
– manages delivery of messages and responses from
attendant level users to end users.
Phone Messaging
– manages the delivery of messages and responses from
attendant level users to end user desksets, with the addition of allowing users to
customize the set of predefined messages.
The following sections describe Desktop Applications functionality that supports the
3rd-Party services.

NSTALLATION
The 3rd-Party services are installed separately from the Desktop Applications
installation. The 3rd-Party services installation option appears as a selection in the
NEC Installer. The shared services must be installed on a PC that includes the NEC
TSP and that can be accessed by all of the desktop clients.
