System Cabling
RAID Configuration
One of the options available for your system is the RAID Controller
board, which gives your system the added security of fault tolerance. If
you order a system with the RAID controller, the system is pre-cabled at
the factory.
SecuRAID 100 (
AMI MegaRAID E
XPRESS
762) RAID Controller
If you are adding the
SecuRAID 100
Disk Array Controller board to an
existing system, you must install and configure the controller. You do
not have to change any cabling in your system. Your system board
recognizes the installation of the RAID controller. Refer to
The Installing
an Option Board
section in the
Upgrades and Options
chapter to install
the controller.
SecuRAID 110 or 210 (
Mylex AcceleRAID 150 or 250) RAID
Controller
If you are adding the SecuRAID 110 or 210 Disk Array Controller to an
existing system, you must install, cable, and configure the controller.
Refer to
The Installing an Option Board
section in the
Upgrades and
Options
chapter to install the controller. Once you have installed the
controller, plug the wide SCSI interface cable into the connector on the
RAID controller (see illustration below).
Note:
Next Boot Status for the first Symbios SYM53C875
controller must be turned
OFF
if you install the optional AMI
MegaRAID EXPRESS 762 Controller board or a Mylex
AcceleRAID Controller board in your system. Refer to
“Symbios Configuration Utility” found in
Chapter 3.
Note:
Ensure JP10 of the Mylex AcceleRAID Controller
board has the jumper removed. Refer to the
Mylex AcceleRAID
Installation Guide
for the location of jumper JP10.
