Replacement
Depending on the operating system and/or server management software to be used, Hard Disk Drives must be
replaced in the defined procedure to manage the Hard Disk Drives appropriately.
If Windows is used as OS and NEC ESMPRO Manager and NEC ESMPRO Agent are used as the server
management software, replace the Hard Disk Drives in the following procedure. To do these jobs, you should
log on to the system as a user having the administrator authority.
The working procedure varies depending on the existence of the system partition and mirrored volume.
Replace the Hard Disk Drives in the procedure meeting your system environment based on the figure on the
next page.
To replace a Hard Disk Drive in a RAID system (RAID 1), you can use the auto rebuild feature. If auto rebuild
feature is disabled due to some reason, perform manual rebuild using the configuration tool.
If you are using the RAID controller, refer to the manual that comes with the optional RAID controller to replace
a Hard Disk Drive.
