Installing a 5 1/4-Inch Device
Install a 5 1/4-inch device drive as follows.
!
CAUTION
CD-ROM devices contain a laser system and are classified
as CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCTS. In case of any trouble
with a CD-ROM, please contact your nearest service
representative. To prevent direct exposure to the laser
beam, do not try to open the enclosure.
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of
procedures other than those recommended by the
manufacturer may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
Note:
If you are installing a SCSI device in media bays
B or C you must use the internal SCSI cables. Contact your
sales representative or dealer for a list of approved optional
peripheral devices.
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at the beginning of this
chapter.
2.
If tower-based system, open the front door of the cabinet. See
Opening the
Front Door of the Tower Cabinet
in chapter 2.
3.
Power off the system. Ensure the power cords are unplugged from the AC
wall outlet.
4.
If rack-mounted system, remove its front panel from the front of the chassis
as follows (see Figure 4-29):

Remove the six screws securing the rack panel to the front of the
chassis.
Note:
Save the six screws removed securing the
front panel to the chassis for future use.

Remove the rack front panel.
