Figure 4-18. Installing Memory DIMMs
9.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 above to install any remaining DIMMs.
10.
Hold the memory board by its front edge and start to insert it into the slot

14.
Plug in the power cords and power up the system.
15.
Run the BIOS Setup and select
Memory Reconfiguration
on the
Advanced
Menu
to verify that the status of the added memory shows
Normal
.
16.
Select
Yes
for
Reset Configuration Data
in the
Advanced Menu
. Selecting

Removing DIMMs
Remove DIMMs from their sockets as follows.
1.
Perform steps 1 through 5 of the previous subsection
Installing DIMMs
to
remove the memory board.
2.
Remove the DIMM modules from the memory board four at a time.
Note:
Use extreme care when removing a DIMM. Hold
DIMMs only by their edges. Place them on an antistatic
surface; do not slide them across any surface. Applying too
much pressure can break the retaining clips or damage the
socket slot. Apply only enough pressure on the retaining
clips to release the DIMM.
3.
To remove each DIMM, gently spread the retaining levers (see Figure 4-19)
just enough so that you can pull the top edge of the DIMM away from the
levers.
