9 RAS
Function
If an event (a fan failure, temperature alarm, voltage alarm, memory error, or internally detected error)
occurs, the RAS function performs FW logging. ESM views the log and performs error processing.
9.1
Operation in Degraded Mode
This server enables CPU and memory operation in degraded mode.
If detecting a CPU or memory error during execution of POST, the system starts with the error block
being separated. In this case, the system displays the error message on the POST screen. You can
also view the message by SETUP. Bear in mind that once the OS has started, you can judge if the
CPU or memory is in degraded mode by only checking the event log for the CPU or memory status.
9.2
Temperature Monitoring
Four types of settings can be made: high-temperature alarm, high-temperature warning,
low-temperature warning, and low-temperature alarm. If the temperature is not normal, operations
such as logging, warning, and shutdown are done before the OS is booted. After the OS starts, the
system performs operation according to the setting of ESMPRO.
9.3
Watchdog Timer (WDT)
The server is equipped with a watchdog timer as standard. If the system is unable to perform clear
processing within the specified time depending on the timer setting, it runs out and enters the panic
state.
