4.8.8 Mother
Board
NOTE:
Before replacing the mother board, the production information (e.g.
model name and N code) of the server and chassis information (e.g. chassis
type and designation number) is recorded in the non-volatile memory of the
mother board. After replacing the mother board, restore the product
information and chassis information from the floppy disk into the memory of
the new mother board. See 5.2 Restoration Procedure 1 (Backup and
Restoration).
Removal
1)
Remove the top cover according to the User's Guide.
2)
Remove the two types of riser card according to the User's Guide.
3) Disconnect the FAN connector.
4) Remove the FAN assembly while lifting the rear of the FAN assembly according to the User’s
Guide.
5) Disconnect the internal SCSI cable and FPC cable.
6) Disconnect all cables from the motherboard.
7) Remove the Heat sink, the CPU, and DIMMs.
8) Loosen and remove the nine screws securing the mother board.
9) Loosen and remove the eight screws securing the heat sink retention module, and remove the
heat sink retention module.
10) While lifting the mother board, move it about 10mm toward the front on the chassis, and
remove it.
