2 How to attach the adapter on your server
Before attaching the adapter, you have to do the followings.
For details, see Chapter 4 “Installing driver and setting up adapter” on
page 44.

To update the onboard LAN driver

For basics on how to handle the blade server mechanism, see
User’s Guide that come with CPU blade and Blade Server
Assemble Unit.
1.
Shut down and turn off the CPU blade where you are going to insert the card.
2.
Remove the CPU blade from Blade Server Assemble Unit.
Warning
Caution. Hot
Components in the server are hot to the touch when and after you
turn off the server. Use care until it becomes cool before you
remove the cover.
3.
If any other PCI boards are attached to the CPU blade, remove them all from CPU blade and
PCI riser card.
4.
Place the CPU blade on an anti-static clean sheet.
5.
Attach the PCI riser card that comes with this product into CPU blade.
Insert the connector all the way seated.
6.
Attach the adapter itself to the PCI connector of PCI riser card that has been attached to CPU
blade. Insert the connector all the way seated.
