Tools needed:
•
19 mm deep socket or wrench
•
22 mm socket or wrench
•
#2 Phillips screwdriver
•
(Optional) 19 mm gland dome nut tightening tool (SEALCON part number S-1900-WR)
Notice
You must connect the chassis ground to ensure measurement signal
integrity.
Complete the following steps.
1.
Install the ground cable gland on the device enclosure.
You may use the gland provided by NI or your own glands. Check the
MON-10467
Specifications
on
for the required gland specifications.
a)
Thread the M16 gland into the device enclosure.
b)
Tighten the gland with a 19 mm deep socket or wrench to a torque of 3.16 N · m
(28 lb · in.).
c)
Install a backing nut onto the M16 gland and tighten with a 22 mm socket or wrench
to a torque of 2.5 N · m (22.1 lb · in.).
2.
Terminate any metal external cable braid or armor prior to entering the gland so that it
does not pass through the gland grommet.
3.
Install the chassis ground connection to the ground shelf using the provided M4 ground
screw and tighten with a #2 Phillips screwdriver to a torque of 1.3 N · m (11.5 lb · in.) .
Note
You must use a ring or spade lug for this connection.
4.
Insert the earth ground cable through the gland using the appropriately sized grommet for
your cable.
The M16 gland comes with a pre-installed gray 2 mm to 6 mm grommet and a black
4 mm to 8 mm grommet. For optimum sealing and/or strain relief, only use wiring with a
round, circular, and smooth exterior cable jacket.
5.
Tighten the M16 dome nut with a 19 mm deep socket or wrench to a torque of 2.5 N · m
(22.1 lb · in.) to provide strain relief and weather resistance for the cable.
6.
Remove the temporary plug body from the circuit card.
7.
Snap the battery pack power connector into the battery port.
Using the Desiccant Kit
If your application is outdoors (non-weather-protected according to IEC 60721-3-4), or if the
device might be directly exposed to an outdoor climate (partially weather-protected according
to IEC 60721-3-3, 3K4 or greater), you must use a desiccant pack from the desiccant kit (part
number 787006-10) to meet the humidity specifications. Replace the desiccant kit after two
years of use.
