2.c Connecting Component Power Turn-On Strip
MTi’s Model 1214, 1312, 1322, 1412 and 1442 Switching Modules have an on-board terminal
strip with corresponding relays which can be used to switch 12V power to components (for use
in Autosound displays). In certain applications they can also be used to trigger a dedicated
component, such as an Amplifier used for a Subwoofer Chain.
See the figure above for complete instructions on connecting Turn-On Strips. The System
Diagrams on pages 85-105 show more Turn-On connections.
NOTE:
The maximum trigger amperage that the Turn-On Relays on the Switching Modules (and also the
0102, below) can handle is
5 amps.
Do not attempt to turn on components that require a higher
trigger amperage with the 0102 or Switching Modules.
2.d Connecting the Component Turn-On Module (0102)
Providing power to components which are switched by Modules without component turn-on
relays (1210, for example) requires the addition of an MTi 0102 Component Turn-On Module.
In this application, 18 gauge wires are run from the lettered terminals of the LED Turn-On Strip
on the Switching Module to the corresponding 0102 terminals marked “Relay Module Center
Strip.”
The Power Supply is connected to the
+12V
position on the 0102, and to the positive and
ground positions on the component connection terminals or on the component itself.
When a
Position is selected at the MVP Control Panel, a ground is sent to the 0102 triggering it to pass
12 volts to the component. If you need LED activation in addition to component turn-on, simply
connect both LED and 0102 wires to each lettered position on the LED strip.
See
NOTE
above for Power Turn-On Module limitations.
When using an 0102, a wire must be installed that connects the switching system power
supply ground terminal to the component power supply ground terminal.
