2. Mount the MVP Control Panel Frame
Install MVP Control Panel mounting frames at this point. As you interconnect MVP Control Panel Modules,
you may want to place them in the frame to confirm that the cables are long enough, but in general,
interconnections between the MVP Control Module, the Dual Chain Modules, and any Feature Modules
should be made
before the Modules are secured in their frames.
Also connect the cables that run from
MVP Control Panel Modules to Switching Modules, and the cable that runs from the Switching System
Power Supply to the MVP Control Module before mounting. You can then test the connections between the
MVP Control Panel and the Switching Modules (as explained on pages 74-75) and correct any mis-wiring
before the MVP Control Panel sections are screwed into their frames.
MTi manufactures two different frame styles for two different applications. See pages 37-38 for illustrations
of the two types of mounting frames. Both frame styles are available in a variety of sizes, from six to 14
inches wide. The MVP Control Module is six inches wide, and Dual Chain and Feature Modules are two
inches wide each. The smallest frame (6") will hold one MVP Control Module or three Dual Chain Modules.
2.1
Flush Mount –
This frame will mount the MVP Control Panel such that the back of the front
panel is flush with the mounting surface. The front panel will extend 1/4" above the
mounting surface due to the thickness of the metal.
The Flush Mount frame can be installed on a vertical or angled surface. Be sure there is
sufficient space (approximately 4.5 inches) behind the surface to accommodate the rear
depth of the MVP Control Panel Modules and their cables.
MTi has drawings available that illustrate the dimensions of the hole you should cut into
your display to install any size and configuration of Flush Mount frame. Call Customer
Service and we will be glad to send you the right one for your MVP Control Panel. After you
have cut the hole in your panel, install the frame with the self-tapping screws provided.
2.2
Shelf Mount –
This frame consists of a housing suitable for either resting the Control
Panel on a shelf surface or hanging it beneath a shelf. If you are hanging your display
beneath a shelf, install the support bar first, and then screw the frame to it. If the shelf
Mount frame will simply rest on a shelf, you may want to secure it to the shelf with
adhesive-backed Velcro
®
strips. These hold the MVP Control Panel securely in place during
operation, but allow easy removal.
3. Set MVP Control Panel DIP Switches and Label Dual Chain Modules
3.2
Set the MVP Control Module DIP switch
. Refer to instructions in Appendix A.
3.2
Label Dual Chain Modules and Feature Modules
. Decide which Modules will control each
Chain of components. Using the provided printed label sheets, label each Dual Chain
Module and Feature Module with the type(s) of components to be switched with its
Chain(s). Simply slip the label into the slot on each Module (See illustrations on pages 24
and 27).
3.3
Set Dual Chain Module and Watt Meter DIP switches
. Refer to Appendix A.
