OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
Thisisapropane,direct-fired,forcedairheater.It’sintended
useisprimarilytemporaryheatingofbuildingsunder
construction,alterationorrepair.
Propaneisheavierthanair.Ifpropaneleaksfroma
connectionorfitting,itsinkstothefloor,collectingthere
withthesurroundingair,formingapotentiallyexplosive
mixture.Obviously,propaneleaksshouldbeavoided,soset
upthepropanesupplywithutmostcare.ReadenclosedOdor
FadeandPropaneSheetforadditionalinformationabout
detectingpropaneleaks.Leakchecknewconnectionsor
reconnectionswithasoapandwatersolutionandfollowall
connectioninstructionsherein.Also,askyourpropanedealer
foradviceonthepropaneapplicationandsupplyinstallation
andaskhimtocheckitifthereareanyquestions.
Thisheaterwasdesignedandcertifiedforuseasa
constructionheaterinaccordancewithANSIStandardZ83.7/
CGA2.14.Checkwithyourlocalfiresafetyauthorityifyou
haveanyquestionsaboutyourapplications.Otherstandards
governtheuseoffuelgasesandheatproducingproducts
inspecificapplications.Yourlocalauthoritycanadviseyou
aboutthese.
Direct-Firedmeansthatallofthecombustionproductsenter
theheatedspace.Eventhoughthisheateroperatesveryclose
to100percentcombustionefficiency,itstillproducessmall
amountsofcarbonmonoxide.Carbonmonoxide(calledCO)
istoxic.Wecantoleratesmallamountsbutnotalot.COcan
buildupinaheatedspaceandfailuretoprovideadequate
ventilationcouldresultindeath.
The symptoms of inadequate ventilation are:
•headache
•dizziness
•burningeyesandnose
•nausea
•drymouthorsorethroat
So,besuretofollowadviceaboutventilationinthese
operatinginstructions.
ForcedAirmeansthatablowerorfanpushestheairthrough
theheater.Propercombustiondependsuponthisairflow;
therefore,theheatermustnotberevised,modifiedor
operatedwithpartsremovedormissing.Likewise,safety
systemsmustnotbecircumventedormodifiedinorderto
operatetheheater.
When the heater is to be operated in the presence
of other people the user is responsible for properly
acquainting those present with the safety precautions
and instructions, and of the hazards involved.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. Checktheheaterthoroughlyfordamage.DONOToperatea
damagedheater.
2. DONOTmodifytheheateroroperateaheaterwhichhasbeen
modifiedfromitsoriginalcondition.
3. Useonlypropanegas.
4. UseonlyVAPORWITHDRAWALpropanesupply.Ifthereisany
questionaboutvaporwithdrawal,askyourpropanedealer.
5. Mountthepropanecylindersvertically(shutoffvalveup).
Securethemfromfallingorbeingknockedoverandprotect
themfromdamage.
6. Locatepropanecontainersatleast(USA)7ft.(2.13m),
(Canada)10ft.(3m)fromtheheaterand
do not
directexhaust
towardcontainers.

IMPORTANT
Useonlythehoseandregulatorassembly
providedwiththeheater.Matchthecolorstripeonthehang
tagattachedtothehoseassemblywiththecoloronthelabel
locatednearthepropaneinletfittingontheheater.Inspect
hoseassemblybeforeeachuseoftheheater.Ifthereis
excessiveabrasionorwear,orhoseiscut,replacewithhose
assemblylistedonpartslistbeforeusingheater.
8. Forindooruseonly.Areamustbewellventilated.

9. Ifatanytimegasodorisdetected,IMMEDIATELY
DISCONTINUEoperationuntilthesourceofgashasbeen
locatedandcorrected.ReadenclosedOdorfadeandPropane
Sheetforadditionalinformationaboutdetectingpropaneleaks.
10. Installtheheatersuchthatitisnotdirectlyexposedtowater
spray,rainand/ordrippingwater.
11. Maintainminimumclearancefromnormalcombustiblematerial
(likepaper).

12. Duetothehighsurfaceandexhausttemperatures,adultsand
childrenmustobserveclearancestoavoidburnsorclothing
ignition.
13. Operateonlyonastable,levelsurface.
14. Donotusewithductwork.Donotrestrictinletorexit.
15. Useonlytheelectricalpowerspecified.Theelectrical
connectionandgroundingmustcomplywithNationalElectrical
Code-ANSI/NFPA70(USA)andCSAC22.1CanadianElectrical
Code,Part1(Canada).
16. Useonlyaproperlygrounded3-prongreceptacleorextension
cord.
17. Donotmove,handleorservicewhilehotorburning.
18. Donotadjusttheheatercombustiontubeelevationwhile
heaterisrunningorhot.Adjustmentstoelevationshouldonly
bemadeaftertheheaterhascooledtotouch.
19. Useonlyinaccordancewithlocalcodesor,intheabsenceof
localcodes,withtheStandardfortheStorageandHandling
ofLiquefiedPetroleumGasesANSI/NFPA58andCSAB149.1,
NaturalGasandPropaneInstallationCode.
